Ida… and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World

hGenre: Realistic Fiction

Ida B has always been homeschooled and around nature since she can remember, but now things are about to change. Her mom is sick and has cancer, her dad has to take care of her, so that means he has to send Ida B to school and sell some of their land. Now Ida B has to go back to school, make friends who aren’t her friendly trees and it doesn’t make sense.
-       Discussion questions:
o   Has anyone been to a park where there is a bunch of grass and trees? Did you enjoy it?
o   Why would all of this change effect Ida B.
o   Have you ever not liked somebody, but they ended up trying to be your friend?
-       Activities:
o   Teach a class outside and look at the trees, teach what kind of trees they are, have each student grow a plant seed
o   Watch a video on how to save our planet
